Blake’s Internship

First and foremost I'd like to apologize to BG for saying he'd never be my mancrush because he was way to robotic in interviews. I guess he was figuring out the whole being in the NBA thing so much that he probably wasn't too worried about what people like me thought of his interviews. He turned me when he was on the Norm McDonald show, and I couldn't stop laughing at the skit. Shortly after the lockout he said he was going to do an internship with funny or die, so naturally I expected the type of gold we were given on the Norm McDonald show, but since his announcement of his internship he hasn't appeared on one sketch in over a month, until today. It's not my favorite video, but the ending gave me a smile, and had a mild spoof of HBO's 24/7 boxing series.

For some reason this video is impossible to embed into the post today, so here's the link...

Tribute to Frank

I was watching Jimmy Kimmel last night for the first time in a little while. This was also the first time I’d ever seen Jimmy all choked up. Usually he never strays from his goofy half stoned looking grin, but before he could introduce the segment about his Uncle Frank that recently passed he couldn’t hold it together, which was completely understandable. Frank might not have been the biggest star out there, but he always came through with something funny in his segments. If there’s anything to learn from Frank, it’s that you can still have fun when you have old balls. I’m ten times more shaken up over this loss than I was with Amy Winehouse…

I Wrote This Song In 2008…

First off, let me just say how hard it is to sit through an A’s game and a Giants game on TV in succession. Not a lot of offense. So excuse me for my lack of enthusiasm. But it’s times like these when it’s good to bring back a classic. I’m not sure exactly how old this song is, but 2008 sounds about right. I can never get enough of it. Now that the A’s have lost four in a row, including just three runs scored in their last 27 innings, I can only think of one guy who could help out team. I’m talkin bout George W. Smith. From city council. He ran in 93, out in Oakland. You probably didn’t hear about him…..

Tiger Spoof

I was going to try and give this one some kind of insight, but they paralleled Tigers golf game with his sex life pretty well, so I’ll just let these two mock PTI guys tell you what is going on in Tiger’s world.

Golf Cart Crashes

I don’t know one person that hasn’t had their share of fun in a golf cart. whether it resulted in a crash or injury, there’s always a classic moment right around the corner. Sometimes crashing or flipping your cart might be the best part of your round. Or maybe being intoxicated by the end of the round helps create the phenomenon that is pushing your cart to the limit. No matter what the circumstances are, every incident ends up being funny and a “remember that one time” moment.

Kobe Spoof on Lockout Issues

I posted the original funny or die spoof when the Lakers got beat by the Mavs. I did like the first one slightly better, but this one was worthy of posting as well. He brought up the very important point of heating in arenas. Players shouldn’t have to be wearing sleves to keep themselves warm, that will be an interesting talking point as the negotiations heat up, if they ever actually do. While scouring the internet for videos, I also ran across this new Steve Nash commercial, which was pretty funny as well if you have another minute to kill…

In Case You Need Some KP in Your Life…

I never understood why HBO put Eastbound and Down on during October and November when they could easily have it on during the actual baseball season. Whatever the case I was looking for stuff about the third season, and found out that it could be the last installment of our irrational hero Kenny Powers. I hope it’s not, but it got me looking up some youtube clips this morning, and I stumbled across some K-Swiss commercials that were pretty good. Not sure why they didn’t push these on the sports channels like they did with the Terry Crews commercials, but here’s him signing his contract and one of his better K-Swiss commercials with Patrick Willis.  Continue reading

Field of Dreams 2

I’ve been waiting for awhile for some funny stuff to come out of the NFL lockout. And by funny I mean the players doing funny videos or commercials like Tim Duncan and  Grant Hill did for Sprite back in the day during the NBA lockout. Desean ordering “No Stings Attached” was probably my favorite line. The only thing I couldn’t figure out is why they deleted all these great scenes below from this short film. The Dwight Freeney breaking our toilet line is a classic that should’ve made the final cut!

Kimmel Invading Doin Work

Iron Mike was on Jimmy Kimmel last night, and when I saw it I thought it was funnier than when I watched it on youtube this morning, but since we haven’t put up any clips in a while I thought we were due for one of them. Ripping on Kobe will always get me to smile. Then I remembered another skit he did last night that I also thought was funny at the time where he busted out a trick shot compilation making fun of all those Sportsnation kids. The domino shot was simply amazing… I guess I thought both of these were more funny last night, but since I’m don’t really want to write about Dirk’s amazing performance, I figured may as well take you into the weekend with a laugh or two instead…

Kobe’s Post Game Interviews

Lebron in Spacejam

Awesome video. I usually get a kick out of the college humor website. I’d love to play with Stegosaurus and that Purple Guy, they sound like beasts! I couldn’t figure out if Taz was supposed to be Delonte or not, but either way that part made me laugh…

The Next Weird Al?

Growing up I loved Weird Al Yankovic. He made fun of popular songs in a way we’d never really seen on a commercial level. Sometimes he’d make fun of the artist, or just make an entirely different song up. Either way at 7 or 8 years old he was my favorite comedian/spoof singer. I know I listened to Trigger Happy about 50 times with Mceezy when “Off the Deep End” came out. The albums that followed weren’t nearly as good in my opinion. Maybe he ran out of jokes or maybe I grew up a little and found his comedy unsophisticated, who knows. I’ve been waiting for a long time for someone to come out with some parody songs on the songs that are out today, because let’s face it, this crappy music generation is really easy to make fun of. I thought The Dan Band had a shot to fill that void in my life, but I’m not sure he even knows what he’s going to sing before he gets on the stage, and I need some structure! I ran across the Snakes and the song above hit close to home. Pretty much everyone I talk to that is out of college wishes they were back in college during those simpler times. I couldn’t agree more, and if I could I’d be in college forever. Hopefully the Snakes will become the next comedic music-men I’ve been looking for. Based on the other songs on their site, I’m not completely sold on them. Atleast they came up with one classic, and at the perfect time as Michael Scott has his last episode on the office tonight!

Danilo Does What?

I was thoroughly confused when someone sent me a link to this clip above. It was funny, but didn’t make much sense. After checking out the Facebook site it all made sense when I watched Lebron take a sheet!

Easter Fun

If you quizzed me about religion, there’s about a 99.9% chance I’d fail regardless of which religion you were testing me on. As a kid I was sent to church with other families to see if I was into any particular religion. My parents were not, so those trips to random churchs ended rather quickly when I found that my Sunday’s could actually be spent doing normal kid stuff (not that going to church is bad, I just have plenty of other things I’d rather do as most kids would agree). I have to say, with the world shrinking in the information age, these religious holidays like Easter seem to be shoved down our throats a little without most people even knowing the relevance of the day. Especially holidays that we don’t even get a workday off! Usually there isn’t a correlation between the holiday and the reason for celebrating the religious day, and Easter is no different. I’ve never understood what chocolate, colored eggs, and bunnies have to do with the resurrection. Fortunately for me, I ran across this video today to clear all of it up!

Norm MacDonald as Blake Griffin

Yesterday Mceezy sent me a text telling me I needed to check out the spoof that Norm MacDonald did on his new show with Comedy Central. After watching it, I have to say, maybe I didn’t give Blake enough credit for having a personality or the ability to be funny, because in this skit Blake was pretty funny. Now that Blake is used to being a star, maybe he’ll show us some more of his personality. I hope Norm Macdonald Sports Show lasts, but I have a feeling it won’t…
