About Us

Doin Work was conceived through, like nearly all great ideas we have, a work e-mail thread.  Every day, four or five of us would end up debating various sports topics, often including inane over-analyzation, pompous banter, and witty commentary about a random subject of the day.

In a discussion loosely surrounding Bill Simmons that ultimately led us to talk about the decline of the art of sports journalism, we decided on creating a blog. Too often sport writing has been reduced to rumor-mongering and rants.  Not to say Doin Work won’t include those – there will no doubt be plenty of rants.  Our goal, though, is to present events or ideas that you have also seen (or not) and turn them into something far more significant than they actually are, for that, is the true art of sports journalism. Our opinions and views often change from day to day, so hopefully through this forum you will get an idea of how fickle our observations truly are. We were all born and raised in California, so we are trying to implicate a little westcoast bias in our writing, since most of the mainstream media is heavily Eastcoast bias. Our teams might not be good, but we love them just the same. MCeezy, Chappy81, and By are hardcore Norcal fans rooting for every team in the Bay Area. Cali4Dre and Dyslexic have a love for Lakers, USC,  and the Chargers covering the Socal side of events.

We figured that since we were at work when all these e-mails are taking place, and supposed to be doing real work while firing back and forth on e-mail chains, the only logical name for our site would be Doin Work. Let us know if you see anywhere we need to improve our blog or if you hate our work, let us know about that as well (doinworkstaff@gmail.com)!

Please be sure to bookmark, link, and comment on all that is Doin Work.
