Some more Bay Area baseball news came out today, and another award was given to another pitcher residing in Northern California. It was announced today that Tim Lincecum has won the Cy Young for a second consecutive year! It’s probably a little relieving to have good news since all the buzz lately has been about his Marijuana possession charges, which honestly, I don’t really see why people care about what he does as long as it’s not a Len Bias kind of habit! He’s just a long haired hippy at heart, hell, he probably scored his weed from Zito’s hookup! Let’s just hope he doesn’t follow the same career path as Barry or sign on for any denim ads. He’s only the second person to ever bag two in a row, and his teammate was the other, Randy Johnson, who won four straight (99-02)! The freak wasn’t the obvious choice for the award, but it’s hard to argue against giving it to him. He had more K’s, innings, and a better whip than runner up Chris Carpenter, but he had a higher era and less wins than Chris. I think Carp would’ve won if some of his votes weren’t taken from him by his teammate Adam Wainwright who also could have been a very deserving winner. I really like that the voters decided that Lincecum was the most dominant pitcher, and didn’t focus so much on just the wins column like they usually do. All in all, it’s been good award season for the Bay, as Tim Lincecum repeated his Cy Young defense, and Andrew Baily won the Rookie of the Year award.

Give ‘Stoner Lincecum’ his due. Other than he and Kung Fu Panda. There wasn’t much worthwhile watching about the Giants !

Well, they have Matt Cain too! He’s a solid pitcher to watch out for! Brian Wilson is always kind of fun to watch. He reminds me of a classic biker bar guy!

He’s (Wilson) yet to have a body of work . So til he does there’s not much I can allude to.

Yeah, but my point really was that he is fun to watch along with the others mentioned…

But even you’ve got to admit that this has been the first time in a number of years that the Giants have been competitive. What happens when Lincecum comes up for arbitration ? Do you think that the Giants will be able to afford him ? They’ll have to offer him a minimum of $15 million per year at least. And by my way of looking at things he’s worth more than Barry Zito at this juncture ! What the hell ever happened to that guy ? The burden of 7 years $126 million was too much to bear ? Oh whoa is he the wuss !

I was just saying that they do have some guys that are fun to watch aside from Lincy. I do think they are going to keep him, they aren’t afraid of spending money, and why not pay some home grown talent! I think he’d want to stay. It will help him being in that “pitcher’s park” over his career not that he needs a ton of help but still. Zito didn’t look bad in the second half of last season. I think him being a third starter makes him a little better, since he’s not facing the other teams aces that often. It was a terrible deal, but if he can build on his 2nd half of the season, maybe they’ll get something out of that contract…

True the Giants aren’t afraid of spending money. But Sabean
as the GM went on a flier to get Zito based on a guy’s potential. And now that money was essentially wasted . When it could’ve been spent better elsewhere
bolstering the roster of the team on the whole.
Who knew that the Bungles would resort to their old
selves against the Raiders ?
