More Impressive than Lebron’s Shot?

Now we’ve all see Lebron’s full court football pass that somehow went in the basket. It was impressive, but for some reason I don’t find it as impressive as if he’d made the same shot with a basketball from the same distance. A football is made for throwing, so in essence, it should be easier right? This brought me to try to find a shot that was harder, and the clip above made the cut. Not sure how many times they tried, but either way it’s very impressive! There are more things that need to be accounted for with this shot as it’s just lucky if it does go in! Aside from putting the right swing on the ball, you have to hope the outside elements don’t effect it like the wind or the unevenness of the bounce… Anyways, enjoy, and have a great weekend!

More Than a Hobby

I wouldn’t  consider myself a good juggler by any means, but I do mess around with it as a hobby. I went looking for a few new moves, and ran across this guy. I can’t say I will ever come close to these skills, but maybe one day!

The Skateboard Wheel

Legendary professional skater Mark Gonzales, came up with this interesting design for the skateboard wheel. It once again reminds me of how great it would be to be a pro in the action sports industry. They get to have fun all day long making up weird ass crap like this! At first I thought this would be easy, but after seeing a couple of the related videos, he was by far the most talented on this contraption…

RFP of the Day: Dwayne Schintzius

A couple weeks back, I alluded to the 1990 NBA Draft as being one of the greatest RFP draft classes EVER. Today’s man of the hour was the 24th overall pick that year by the San Antonio Spurs. Schintzius was a relatively solid prospect coming out of Florida, where he averaged over 19 points and 9 rebounds per game through the first 11 contests of his senior season, before his infamous departure from the Florida Gators. He quit the team on account of his conflict with his new coach, noting that he couldn’t “sail under the authority of Captain Ahab.”

Nonethelss, Schintzius went on to play 8 seasons in the NBA for the Spurs, Kings, Nets, Pacers, Clippers and Celtics. His most productive year came in 1991-1992 in Sacramento, where he average 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Acquired in a trade for fellow RFP, Antoine Carr, he also averaged a career high 12 minutes per game that season, however, he was also released by the Kings during the season. Enough on-the-court facts though, Schintzius was better known for his off-the-court achievements.  His Captain Ahab quote firmly ranks third on the list of most notable Schintzius accomplishments.

#2 – His role as Russian center, Ivan Radovadovitch, in the 1996 critically acclaimed Whoopi Goldberg film, “Eddie.”

#1 – His mullet. Simply one of the greatest mullets in sports of ALL TIME.

Epic Best Man Fail

Yeah, this one is old, but it gives me a laugh everytime I see it. I was going to write about LJ, but got over that pretty quick, so here’s something light instead…

Goats and Monkeys get along!?

In lieu of booking a family trip to China with MCeezy, I thought I’d bring the ol goat on a tightrope back to relevance! I know that people think us Asians are weird, but within our weirdness we have harnessed ways to teach animals to climb stairs, and walk a tightrope! I hope we see some stuff this entertaining while we’re there!

The Independant Sidecar?

So, some guy in Serbia must have got some kind of a smoking deal in this half off sale. I guess he just took half a car instead of buying a full one. May as well just take the free part, especially when it’s the part that works! I’m not really sure how this is even possible, probably because I’m not know for my mechanic skills, but this reminds me of how a sidecar on a motorcycle would look rolling around on it’s own. I want to see him ghost ride the whip in his next youtube clip!

Doin Work Wishes you a Happy Halloween!

Halloween half naked girls

Human Tetris!

Not sure why they picked Tetris, but it’s kind of a cool idea. I guess with the unemployment rate at an all time high it’s probably easier to gather some people with some extra time! They probably should have done it back in the 90’s when the game was a little more popular…

Two Points the Hard Way

I know this is an older clip, but in light of the start of the NBA season, I thought I’d show the hardest way to score a basket, with a person… I wonder if they had any misfires before this actually went down? It looks like she may have caught part of her head on the rim on the way down as she was grabbing it after wards. Good thing the guys were too excited to notice! This is by far the hardest shot I’ve ever seen!

RFP of the Day – Rey Quinones

Somewhere in the late 80s I took a liking to the Seattle Mariners.  I know what you’re thinking…. Oh, I bet it was 1989 when Ken Griffey Jr. joined the team. Not so fast, though, random forgotten baseball fan.  My Mariners fandom came to be somewhere around 1987 or 1988.  But I’m a lifelong A’s fan, how could I root for a division rival?  Well, it’s simple see… I’m a fan of underdogs.  In those rare cases where my team is actually good, (see 1988-1990 A’s, 1994 49ers, and 2000-2002 Kings) I’ll sometimes start rooting for a less competitive team.  I won’t stop rooting for my own team, it’s just something else to root for to stay grounded, if you will.  Well, the 1987-1988 Mariners were that team for me in those days.  I believe it started with my admiration for Harold Reynolds, who could’ve had a solid career as an RFP if it weren’t for his later endeavor into the TV world at ESPN.  Nonetheless, he was one of the best “average” second basemen of the times, and being a middle infielder myself, those were the players I looked up to.  Naturally, I rooted for Reynolds’ double play partner as well.  That guy was none other than Rey Quiñones.

Quiñones was acquired by the Mariners from the Red Sox for Dave Henderson, among others, and was really only the starting SS for those two seasons in Seattle.  His power numbers were basically identical (12 HRs and 56 and 52 RBI, respectively), but his average dipped from .276 to .248 in ’88.   After playing just 7 games and going 2 for 19, the Mariners traded him to Pittsburgh, where he would finish his last season in the major leagues with a lowly .209 batting average.

Quiñones compiled a lifetime average of .243 with 29 HR and 159 RBI in 1,668 plate appearances over his 4 year career.

Cat Gets Owned!

Solid break dancing moves! I’ve never seen a flying pig that people seem to reference, but here we clearly see that with one solid uppercut that flying cats DO exist.

Karaoke Performance Gone Wrong

Holy s**t what is going on here? I was horrified watching this god awful performance, but yet couldn’t take my eyes off it. This was one of the most perplexing four minutes of my life…hell I had to even go back and watch this again in attempt to really comprehend the subtitles that were flashing across the screen at me.

I need a stiff drink.

Is Pat Leahy More Unhittable Than CC?

About two years ago I joined a wiffle ball team, and it was pretty fun, and surprisingly competitive. I thought that it was pretty amazing that guys were throwing a wiffle ball that weighs an ounce forty feet at upwards of 50 mph! I’m not saying that it hurts to get hit by the ball, but I did get a few welts here and there from pitches. Although I only had one glorious wiffle season it made me respect guys that could make the ball go where they wanted it to. The video above is 2008 first round draft pick Pat Leahy. Yes, they do have drafts and free agency in wiffle ball. I guess it’s getting to be pretty big over on the east coast, where they do take it pretty damn serious! Fast Plastic is a growing league, and might be something worth checking to see if they have it in your area. Everything’s worth trying once!

Freestyle Walker Gets Owned

Well, I’ve always thought freestyle walking was one of the lamest sports ever invented, especially when they came out with the shoes that the little plastic pieces on the bottom to allow you to slide down rails. I’m not sure if this guy IS in fact freestyle walking, but he REALLY needs to get a little more practice in!
