I ran across this article on Friday, and still can’t really understand how this vaporizer gizmo works. It’s the new rage at the club scene in the UK, and is an alcoholic vaporizer, that is used in the same way as a hookah. I’m not sure how effective it would be in getting you drunk, but I can see this replacing bottle services at clubs. Maybe AP knows what they’re all about since he’s from the UK. For some reason I don’t see it being very potent, since it doesn’t give you a hang over. Maybe the quick buzz doesn’t last nearly as long as drinking alcohol, and is truly meant for those who like to cut a rug all night long while just having a mild buzz. I’ve never come across a booze that you can drink endless amounts of without feeling the effects the next day. There seems to be some that think it is bad for your brain to snort the vapor, but since I’m not going to do that if they ever make it to the U.S. I’m not worried about it.
The thing I’m most skeptical about is that hard booze doesn’t really taste good straight up, and to vaporize it you’d need to heat it up, which feels like you’re making it taste even worse. I can’t imagine what a lung filled hit of vodka or gin would taste like, but I don’t foresee it tasting good. It’s actually the complete opposite of my favorite whiskey on the rocks. Hot whiskey in vapor form, doesn’t sound like something I’ll be wanting very often, but if it somehow doesn’t give you a hangover then maybe I’m down to try. Another thing I don’t like about the idea is I like carrying a cup around. For some reason holding my drink, and sipping it with my friends. There’s something about the social aspect of drinking from a glass that I feel like I’d be missing. There’s a good chance I just like the way it tastes too…

It gives you a buzz alright if you’re mixing a concoction of differen liquors. But it’s obvious to see that you’ve never been much of a drinker ?

Oh, I can definately handle my liquor, but I’ve never seen one of these before. Does it taste okay? Or does it taste the same as taking shots!?!

The buzz is not much different from having a double shot. If you ever go to Detroit in any of the prominent Middle Eastern neighborhoods you can find such establishments. They’re prevalent obviously in the Middle East and primarily most Arab countries. But as you allude to in your piece they’ve began to spring up in the UK. However in Holland , France , Germany Ireland and Spain they’ve been around for a number of years.
When I was stationed in Morocco and then Ethiopia my buddies and I would join the locals there at some of their hookah parlors.
There though the substance wasn’t alcohold per say but it was either Arabic tea , coffee or hashish (marijuana). British military weren’t testing the soldiers then. Now it’s a mandated policy upon entrance.

Interesting. I always thought Hookah bars were a waste of money, and I guess the same goes for bars and drinking in general, but hasn’t slowed down me down over the years… I guess I’d probably try it if I ran across one… I feel like if it’s being inhaled, I’d rather get Irie than drunk from it! Thanks for the info or I otherwise probably wouldn’t have known about it!

The only time a drinking establishment is a waste of money . It’s either because it’s poorly ran or the management there is pi_s poor in terms of creativity and ideas.

I guess I just get tired of the places that charge you $10 a drink… Even when it’s a well drink…

That’s one of the reasons when I go out either with my male buddies . We tend to go against the grain and try something unusual. It’ll be a club one weekend or perhaps some type out of the way and unusual restaurant setting. Be it French, Arabic , or something with an ethnic flavor to it altogether. I know that in Cali there’s got to be numerous places like that.
In Orlando we’re somewhat limited but not so much so. So once in a while I’ll head south to Miami or the Keys and get my swerve on with the girlfriend and have some fun down there while I’m at it.
