Last off-season in the NBA it was all about the big time free agents, and where will they land. This off-season will be all about Billy Hunter vs. David Stern, and how long the lockout will last. It seems like it could get even uglier than the NFL’s lockout and probably will miss more games. As I’ve said before with the NFL lockout, I’m all for it if they lose some fans and some revenue. Nothing puts a billion dollar league in their place like losing fans. I ran across this video of a few spoof lockout ads that we could see in the near future when the war really heats up. Ok, probably not, but we know it’s going to get ugly. The ad that had Stern saying “he knew where the bodies are buried” had a very interesting story to it during all-star weekend and this article by Adrian Wojnarowski is a must read if you haven’t heard the story.

This isn’t Stern’s first rodeo so I’m inclined to think he’ll fare a great deal better than that oaf Goodell who at this juncture wouldn’t know his a_s from a hole in the ground ! Why the god-damn owners voted for this guy is completely beyond me ! He hasn’t a law degree but majored in Economics (MBA) albeit that he’d worked Covington LLP alongside his predecessor Paul Tagliabue before they both joined the NFL .
Stern has been the commish for almost 25 years can you actually believe that ? I think that King (NBPA Exec Director) and Derek Fisher (NBPA President) underestimate him if they think that he’ll cave in to their demands .

I think it all depends on how good the players are at saving up some money. The reason most lockouts end is players can’t go without the paycheck. Basketball seems like there are more guys that are stupid with their money, so we’ll see if they can hold out to get their demands met this time around. It sounds like Billy Hunter wants to go out with a bang sticking it to stern as much as he can!

Pick out your hockey team now…it’s coming
April 8th, 2011 at 5:17 pm
I’ve always been a Sharks fan if you could call me a fan of a hockey team. They are always a disappointment in the playoffs, so it’s hard to get excited about them. They’re like the Mavericks of hockey! They are followed closely by the Blackhawks, because I used to love being them as a kid when playing Sega Gennesis NHL 94! They were like a 10 in checking, which was my favorite part of that game!

Nothing wrong with the Sharks. I enjoy watching them most of the time, except when Joe Thornton is wrecking the Blues’ season.
I’m sure the NHL is rooting so hard for a lockout in basketball to go along with the NFL. I always tell people to go see a game live before they dog on hockey. It’s tough to really get into if you only see it on TV.

I have a hard time watching them on TV. It just doesn’t keep my attention for long. Probably the same for you and basketball.
I’ve been to four games live though, and have to say it’s A LOT more fun in person! I could see myself getting into hockey if football and basketball are locked out…

Let’s just hope both leagues are able to figure all this BS out.
Fingers crossed, fingers crossed.
