We’ve made it well known that we are fans of big fans of Conan O’Brien, and he IS the comedic voice of our generation. I will watch him whether it’s on youtube or TBS. I feel like he’s sincere in his approach to comedy, and really understands the younger generation. Some late night hosts, put off the vibe that they truly do view their show as a job and only worry about plugging the sponsors and the network. Conan on the other hand, feels like he’s actually having fun doing his job. I think that is what has drawn me to the guy over the past decade plus. I really wish I had known about his comedy tour before I saw the youtube clip below from his trip to Google’s headquarters, because I definitely would’ve tried to go. I guess I’ll have to follow his twitter account a little closer now.
Anyways, if you enjoy Conan, and are missing him in his absence from late night TV, here’s a great hour long video that is well worth a watch. He has some great insights into being a celebrity, and the crazy people he runs across that think they know him. He even busts out his best Ludacris impersonation. There’s also a portion where Andy Richter is with him on stage, and I have to say some of the employee questions were pretty good. The best part about this whole appearance may not have been his comedy, but when he described his falling out with NBC (around 15 minute mark he gets into it). He continues to talk about the breakup sporadically throughout the rest of the hour.

Conan showed that he was the bigger man for a while once he got that massive payoff from NBC. But now he should keep his mouth shut rather than teeing off to anyone who wants to listen. In doing so it shows a complete lack of class and maturity. The idiocy wasn’t from him to begin with the morons such as Jeff Gaspin and Jeff Zucker as heads of NBC Universal primetime programming. That duo couldn’t be trusted to organize a kid’s tea party much less a primetime tv schedule.
As it is I’m pis_ed that the canceling L & O !

I don’t think he really teed off on anyone per say. Especially since he spent the last three weeks of his show ripping NBC, he really didn’t have a lot more bridges to burn. I’m actually not sure how NBC justified letting him stay on the air for those last few weeks, but that was thier mistake to make, not mine 🙂

I like me some Conan too, Chap, but the comedic voice of our generation?

Well, I’m 28, and can’t really say I’d associate myself with anyone else. I’m not sure how old you are, but over the last decade plus I’ve really only liked Conan on the late night circuit. I mean if you want to get technical, I might say Seth McFarland above him in a different way… Or you could argue countless actors, but as far as late night goes he is king. Lettereman and Leno are guys that my grandparents like… I never liked them all that much, I guess his weirdness hits me the right way… Who do you think is a good choice for my generation?

Like I said Gaspin and Zucker would be better off in charge of a dog pound than prime time programming at NBC. They lost over $350 million covering the Winter Olympics and once that Comcast deal is finalized , look for there to be even more bloodletting once they take over the reins fully.
There’s now nothing at all worthwhile watching on NBC , not even the friggnin’ infomercials !

If Conan is the voice of this generation then there’s a great deal to be said for the idiocy that goes on within the college campuses. He’s funny but he’s no Dangerfield , Pryor or even Lenny Bruce or George Carlin for that matter ! His material at best is marginal !
But as they say it’s whatever floats your boat .

Could this have been the reason why LeGonad tanked game six against the Celtics ?
If true this could prove to be embarrassing for everyone concerned.

All of those guys were before my time Al! I do like them, but when they were in their prime, I was either five years old, or wasn’t born yet… I saw that Delonte story, pretty funny stuff!
Chris,
Chappelle is a good one, he just wasn’t around for all that long because he didn’t like the spotlight. Hopefully Chappelle comes back one day, but I have a feeling he’s just chillin somewhere… I guess I factored in longevity…

Catch a tape of Pryor live or Eddie Murphy’s Raw before he went to do all the family stuff . You’ll truly appreciate how funny they both were. Way funnier and inventive than anything that O’Brien could come up with. Pryor co-wrote the movie “Blazing Saddles” in conjunction with Mel Brooks.

Oh, I’ve seen their acts before, and love them as comedians! I just wouldn’t classify them as part of my generation There are so many good comedians it’s tough to just pick one… 🙂

It is tough to define one and what’s supremely funny. I’ve always been an admirer of Joe Koy ! I’ve seen him at several comedy clubs in the Miami & Orlando area. The guy is insanely funny and his mix of American Asian humor is an absolute blast !

Koy is a funny guy! Never had the chance to see him live, well I guess I’ve had the chance the timing just never worked out. I think you are right though, there are lots of different kinds of comedy, so it’s all subject to opinion…

The first and only time I saw him was in San Francisco some four years ago when the girlfriend and I saw him at a comedy club there. He had me rolling on the floor in stitches. Now he’s at times a regular guest on Chelsea Handler’s late night show on E . She’s another funny person as well ……… and so sexually suggestive. I could swear she’d turn a brother out if she were to put her mind to it !

I agree Chelsea is surprisingly good! My girlfriend is a huge fan of hers, and has the show on pretty often. I actually went to see a live taping of her show, it was pretty fun!

Handler is simply just out there on a limb. I doubt even Chuey would try to save her !

This piece of news just in the Magic aren’t who people thought that they were. Denny Greene is said to be literally upset at them .
Oh well it looks as if your wish may well be met with a shortened series. Jameer Nelson is no Rajon Rondo or Deron Williams so let’s set the record straight there once and for all !
The Magic will live and die by the 3’s and it will lead to their death knell as far as this series goes. Because it shows a lack of creativity when it comes to their offense altogether !

Wouldn’t you agree certain things are best left unsaid ? As in Amare’ Stoudemire’s criticism of Lamar Odom (double -double 19 pts, 19 reb’s 20 minutes of play off the bench) having a lucky game. Unfortunately for ‘mare’ his Suns got completely blown out of the water again in game two of the series . Let’s just say that the “immigration” problems in the state of Arizona is now more of an interest story than the Suns’ play in “this series” !
124-112 and the Suns still haven’t got answer for Kobe .
Cavs’ fans are said to be asking Stern if they can have a do-over of the series against the Celtics as they now have begun to realize the mistakes that they made.
